This notice describes the current pilot. It does not claim a completed legal or data-protection compliance review.
Optional location
Location is requested only when you tap a location control; University Connect does not track you in the background. Nearby browsing uses your position on the current page without saving it to your account. When you search for places or campuses near you, the search and position are sent to Google Maps to find suggestions. Posts and stories share only a place name you explicitly select, with the same audience as that content. Listings, services and events can share a selected public place and its coordinates. You can leave place tags off and select your university manually.
Information you provide
University Connect stores the account and profile information you submit, your posts, messages, community activity, applications, resources, listings and reports. Student verification uses the information and documents you choose to submit. Do not upload sensitive information that is not needed.
Why information is used
Information supports your account, campus interactions, applications, personalization, moderation and safety. Authorized staff can review reports and verification submissions. Your profile and career portfolio have visibility settings; employers can access an attached CV only for an application to their job.
Your privacy choices
You can control profile, post and contact visibility, messaging permissions, and blocked or muted accounts in Privacy & safety. Career portfolio sections have their own visibility controls. Notification preferences control in-app categories and quiet hours. Email and push notifications remain unavailable until those services are configured.
Device storage and activity
University Connect uses local storage for preferences such as theme and data saver, and for device-only opportunity information where indicated. Signed-in opportunity saves sync to your account. Pilot activity records use an account identifier, an event name and a timestamp to measure actual usage, without recording the contents of posts or messages in those activity events.
Files and external links
Private uploads are served through temporary access links, with access limited by the relevant permissions. Providers linked from opportunities and other listings operate their own sites and privacy practices. Check their policies before sharing information with them.
Questions, corrections and removal requests
Use Contact & feedback to request a correction or removal of information, or report a privacy concern. Account deletion and data export are not yet self-service features. No fixed retention period or response deadline is promised in this pilot notice.
